How often do you shower, really?

Thanks to tiktok, I realized many people were not really taught how often we need to bathe, and how to do so effectively.

We know I am a big advocate of using real soap like our organic olive and coconut oil bars, shampoo bars, and bulk products. But most people wash their hair and skin too often and with harsh cleaners, causing health issues and, well, smells.

When it comes to personal hygiene, knowing how often to wash your skin, hair, and shower is essential for maintaining a healthy body. Let's delve into the recommended frequencies for each to ensure you are practicing good hygiene habits.

How often should you wash your skin?

It is generally recommended to wash your skin daily, especially your face, to remove dirt, oil, and impurities that can accumulate throughout the day. However, overwashing can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. For those with sensitive skin, washing once a day or every other day may be more suitable.

What about washing your hair?

The frequency of washing your hair depends on your hair type and lifestyle. For most people, washing your hair 2-3 times a week is sufficient to keep it clean and healthy. Overwashing can strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and damage. If you have oily hair, you may need to wash it more frequently, while those with dry hair can go longer between washes.

How often should you shower?

Showering daily is a common practice for many people, as it helps to remove sweat, dirt, and bacteria from the body. However, showering too frequently can strip the skin of its natural oils and disrupt the skin's microbiome. For most individuals, showering every other day or every two days is sufficient to maintain good hygiene without overwashing.

Remember, personal hygiene habits can vary depending on individual factors such as skin type, hair type, and lifestyle. It's essential to find a routine that works best for you while keeping in mind the importance of not overwashing to maintain a healthy balance for your skin and hair.
