Vegan Indie Holiday 2020 Gift Guide

Vegan Indie Holiday 2020 Gift Guide

These gifts are geared towards vegans, but will also help nudge the veg-curious to try new things. Here are some small indie business I enjoy, and hopefully you and your loved ones will, too!

Vegan Street Fair at Home: Patreon https://www.patreon.com/veganstreetfair

When events had to shut down in March, Jessica at VSF was one of the first to take a hit and do the right thing. She postponed all events and pivoted (2020 word of the year!) to an online series of funformative (fun + informative) live cook alongs, skill shares, and other events. You can watch live and chat, or replay prior classes. The funds benefit the vendors of VSF events, so consider helping all these hardworking folks stay afloat.

Veggies Save The Day: ebooks https://www.veggiessavetheday.com/ebooks/

Another one of my peeps, Amy Katz, writes fresh and delicious vegan recipes focusing on a Mediterranean diet. It's a really effective strategy for people who like vegetable-forward cooking but may be unsure or hesitant for all vegan cooking. You can even download one of her ebooks, have it printed online, and shipped directly to your recipient.

Petals for Jean: Skin and Haircare

Raya from PfJ has done virtual pop ups with me, and we have stalls in Openmarket OC also. Her products are all vegan, handmade, and sustainable and you know I love that! She makes tons of botanical-forward hair and skincare. I can't wait to buy her items every time I go restock at the market.

Seed & Sow Microgreens kits https://www.etsy.com/shop/seedsowmicrogreens//

Also at OpenMarket, and online, is this great intro to home growing. For the gardener, or the gardening wannabe, this kit comes with sustainable pulp containers, soil, a spray bottle, and seeds that sprout in under a week. A nutritional powerhouse, even kids or folks without outdoor space can grow them.

      EcoNow: Zero Waste Shop https://www.econowca.com/

With so many businesses closing in 2020, it's remarkable to see some grow and even expand. EcoNow recently opened their second location in Anaheim! They focus on sustainable personal and home products, and sell refills to save on packaging. You can bring your own jars and get essentials like laundry detergent by the ounce!

      Herbivorous Butcher: https://www.theherbivorousbutcher.com/

I'd lusted after this Twin Cities-based shop for a while, and finally got a meat and cheese sampler pack for my birthday. Everything is house made and ships cold, so your holiday charcuterie platter can be a char-cute-erie platter (oof).

      Vegan Power Co. https://www.etsy.com/shop/VeganPowerCo

Baby Yoda holding an avocado? In an enamel pin? You know I bought that the second it popped up in my feed. This LA company makes pins, patches, stickers, and apparel in retro-inspired and nostalgic styles with a TON of sass.
